We’ll start with our LEILA, as she’s just starting a great new chapter in her life: a semester abroad in Califonia/USA. We wish her a lot of fun and success. She has the matching TIPI BEACH bikini for Long Beach in her luggage, of course!
TB: Where did you grow up? What was your childhood like? Leila: I grew up in Bad Oldesloe – a small town between Hamburg and Lübeck. I was relatively content as a child, but like almost everyone these days, I’ve also experienced unpleasant things like my parents separating.
What are the three words your friends/your parents would use to describe you? Empathic, scheduled and humorous.
Which three words would you use yourself? In fact, the same.
Why are you doing the job you are doing today? I’m still a student, but I’m currently completing a long-term internship in the field of delinquent services. I decided to do this because I see a good part even in apparently “bad” people and I am more interested in what experiences you have had to become the person you are today. Who knows what would have become of me had I had certain childhood experiences?
What has been your biggest project so far? I myself am my biggest project. Constant self-reflection and personal development are my lifelong tasks.
What do you like to do most in your free time? I like to do sports, deal with spiritual things and meet friends. I go out genre, but also often and gladly spend time alone.
If you could meet one famous person – living or dead: Who would it be and why? Eckhart Tolle. He is the author of what I consider to be the most important book in the world: “Now – The Power of the Present”. I was able to meet him at a retreat and would be very happy to meet him again.
What are the three things that really drive you up the wall? Unreliability, lies and discrimination.
If you could change one thing in the world: What would it be? More equality and less discrimination.
What three things in your life are you most grateful for? My mother, not having a particularly serious illness and generally being so privileged to grow up in a country like Germany.
What question have you not had an answer to lately and have you been able to find it? What’s for dinner tonight? I am still looking for an answer!
What could you not do without in your life? To people who are close to me.
Is there a song that always makes you want to start dancing right away? Honey – 070 Shake.
If your life was made into a movie: Who would play you? Definitely Will Smith.
What would you get up in the middle of the night for? For an oppressive bubble.
What decision in your life would you want to reverse in retrospect? None at all. Every experience in life teaches us something and even every bad one carries something good in it. Who knows who we would be today without the mistakes we made.
Do you have a bucket list? If so, what does this look like? What do you still want to experience/see? Why haven’t you done it yet? I do not have a list. But I’ve always wanted to live abroad for a longer period of time, for example, and that’s actually next on my agenda. In January I’m going to California for 5 months and let’s see where life will take me after that. However, I think it is important to actually put such a list, or such projects in general, into action. Life is MUCH too short for not doing things because you’re afraid or putting them off until “someday.”
